I will be on the mountain calling CQ from 10.00 Saturday morning. We will be taking a ATU which is Simons and quite afew antennas inc my new 2m beam A99 and poles.

My trip today using the radio started at 8.30am by the time I was set up on Halkyn Mountain about 900ft ASL looking over towards Blackpool. I started by making some contacts on 20m band until M3ZMO came over for a chat. We tried out my 3 element yagi beam on 2m but sadly the SWR was very high and it was too windy and cold to sort out so that went away for the rest of the day.
I then had a call from Simon M3VNB saying he was on his way over but got lost (with TomTom) so I went out looking for him. We then set the A99 up to his ATU and tried calling CQ on 17m but sadly we made no contacts.
He decided to get his 2m home made dipole out to do some work on 2m SSB but it needed a small repair. So I had to get the gas soldering iron out of the boot and we fixed it in no time at all!!! We then got on with working some stations... The next time we looked at the clock after it went dark it was 21.00 so we started to pack up and called it a day.
