Channel 31 EU Net
We had a net on CH31 Mid band last night. Was a very good turn out. A video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UENXlYLYm7o courtesy of Dave M0ogy. First of many videos to come from our club net and Dave's amazing collection of radios.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
Yes Simon so are we. We shall arrange something when the E season kicks off and maybe hear others call in also. Our CB nets are going to be weekly. We even had a G0 station on the net with us, but he wasn't on the video. Anway we shall do our bit to keep things alive in our area as CB is definetly not forgotten with our club!

A short vid of my new President Harry 2 in action. Had a copy into Huddersfield which is about 70 miles away from my qth. Shame i have a little qrm on mid band, but most was copied. Anyway the channel change beep isn't that annoying, unless your a serial channel changer.

Hi Caine, Turn on the Harry and press DN on the mike? Maybe that can kill the sound, depends on the version that the Harry was made, which series.

Hi Simon.
Erm i don't appear to have any buttons on the mic lol. So the bleep stays. I don't change channel much so not too fussed and i don't find it that irritating really. Thanks for subscribing to my channel. Can't wait to get somemore vids.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
I've set-up a new Harry 2 today - it had a fantastic TX audio with the tiny stock mic, but the internal speaker was rather poor and I was soon plugging-in an external one.
Can't seem to get on with the auto-squelch feature.
Pity there aren't more nets operating - can't hear a thing on EU31 and only UK19 is populated around here (with crap).

ASC, Auto Squelch is better when driving along, at home there is not much need for them really. Was originally designed for AM, but works well on either AM or FM

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
Nice to make it into the Ch31 net - according to Google Maps it's 186 miles between Hull and my QTH near Bristol.
Went on to have a tidy QSO with a guy (Stan) in Blythe on Ch34.
It was the first time I'd tried an old Harvard H-407 homebase that I'd just picked up for £20, so all-in-all a result!
Cheers and Beers

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
Cheers for the vid - you can certainly tell I was a West Country station
There were loads of Northern stations coming in for a while (mainly Newcastle) and I've had quite a lot of Northern Scottish stations coming in over the last couple of weeks too, so I'll certainly have a listen on Ch31 next Sunday.
Very nice to see a Uniden 300 being put to good use too.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
The styling of the Uniden has stood the test of time - still looks good. The audio coming down to me was A1 when allowed (sounded like a big Kenwood HF radio or something similar).
Isn't the Audioline 345 pretty much the same rig with a different coloured front?
I'm a fan of old homebases - I've a York 869 (good performer), the quirky Murphy Homebase and the Harvard H-407 (which I was quite pleased with on Sunday, seeing it's really just an Amstrad in a bigger box).
I'll certainly swing past Ch31 on a Sunday evening, just in case the conditions become ripe again.
Cheers.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
The Audioline 345 is the same but as you say a different front. Just looking to see if one in good condition pops i'll probably buy it and add to the little collection. Just using the standard mic here but the Unidens seem to have powerful audio.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
Yet another addition to my homebase collection - a Harrier CB HQ should be on it's way soon complete with the mids installed too.
Just need a Uniden 300 or Audioline to add a Uniden-boarded rig to the growing family.
Unless, that is, my Mrs. kills me first

I'm doing pretty well today - contacts into:
France, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany (Dortmund) and Holland.
What channels are you monitoring Simon? - EU 31 and 38 just 30+ noise here.
I'll be flicking around the UK block at around 6pm UK time.
Cheers.

Ye i saw the video Simon, conditions were as good your way then. Worked quite a few on UKFM last night. A few stations in Cornwall were on. The Tango Mike's down there called us but a totally different club to the one Simon set up from Bridlington. Manic stuff on 10m on saturday night also.

Just trying my new Harrier CBHQ - seems Ok so far
eBay.com is the place for cheap AM/SSB homebases - cheap too (mostly just 40ch though, so would need some expansion to get to the Triple 5).
Cheers.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
Mine works very well indeed with sensitive RX and the TX is great with my Astatic Minuteman mic - it's a Cybernet boarded rig, so does suffer with a bit of a pop when the squelch goes in and out.
The Delta Tune is quite good as it does drop SSB interference on a channel by moving away from it a bit, but not really making much difference to the received FM signal.
Mine was £28 on eBay - the one on eBay does have a Sadelta base mic with it though.
I'm hoping to send it away to have the mid block added soon.
I wish I had more houses to run all these homebases in though - until I win the lottery, I'll just rotate them from time to time.
Cheers.
Gary
The Delta Tune is quite good as it does drop SSB interference on a channel by moving away from it a bit, but not really making much difference to the received FM signal.
Mine was £28 on eBay - the one on eBay does have a Sadelta base mic with it though.
I'm hoping to send it away to have the mid block added soon.
I wish I had more houses to run all these homebases in though - until I win the lottery, I'll just rotate them from time to time.
Cheers.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
28 quid seems a good price. Looks to be in pretty nice condition. I'm running out of room also. Might have to have a new desk built at some point.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
I had to give it a good clean inside and out plus resprayed the case in matt black - the wooden end caps were missing, but the rig looks more modern without them.
There was one loose control that needed fixing and a squirt of contact cleaner had the other controls working like new.
The Harrier CBHQ was £49, but has the mid block installed - just put it on the frequency counter and it's pretty much spot-on. I thought it was a joey when I tried a quick test to the rig in the car, as the mod was really quiet, but it turned out to be the stock mic supplied with it. It sounded superb when I plugged a Cobra M-75 into it.
Looks like it's only the Uniden based rigs that have a punchy TX audio with a standard mic.
How's the Audioline performing?

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
The Audioline seems great. Volume control is abit crackly but it receives great and audio tx is excellent. Looking forward to getting some dx on it.
I'm not so familar with the Harrier CB's and never owned one. Seen a few on ebay though.

Re: Channel 31 EU Net
Nice one - a squirt of switch cleaner will soon have the volume control sorted.
The Harrier CBHQ and York 869 share the same Cybernet guts as the Harrier CBX, Binatone 5 Star, York 863, Cybernet Beta series and Radiomobile rigs (and a few more). All thought to be some of the better 27/81 rigs of the 80's.
Simon 007 has a nicely modified 869 - it must be the kiddie if he's got one!
Cheers.

I always swing past EU31 when doing the rounds - along with UK25 and 31 too.
