Team TS-6M
Been Chatting to Mr.Siemann at Team and coming next month is the following multi EU Radio
EU40
UK80
DE80
EC40
PL40
EI40
Maximum power of 4w FM and 4w AM depending on the configuration, have the manual here and it looks to be a real nice radio. Some President there with the s-meter and the buttons is my first opinion.....

Re: Team TS-6M
The service manual shows the jumper named EXP JMP so must mean export jumper and from those who seem to know, the radio is uniden, a Harry II with a different front. So, now need wait and see in reality if it is...............

Re: Team TS-6M
The Teams are 59euro, thats there retail price. SIGMA will have them in the UK soon as the shipments by sea are now inside the EU and will be sent.
They appear to be available this week via dealers so maybe cheaper directly inside the UK??

Nice radio and review, I've not seen any listed on UK CB dealers websites yet, I guess they'll be appearing any day now.
Very tempted, although finding someone sensible to talk to will be a lot harder than buying the radio.

Re: Team TS-6M
Thats true indeed. The radios are now available here from all good resources and guess time needed before they land inside the UK.
Sigma, Thunderpole
These two names i was told about also,, so guess they will be seen. Since mine was a prototype there are some changes made since then and these include:
a) a different electret element that can make the audio sound a little hollow. The insert in plastic is 3mm and the best advice is to add a little bit of tissue paper inside the mike case and this takes it immediately away.
b) 3.78w is the FM power set, mine was a little more than this and the AM is 1w for DL and 4w for the areas where 4w is needed.
Cost is 59euro here and awesome for the price, shows you what can be done when it is needed.

Re: Team TS-6M
I think that on a whole all CB radios are overpriced and quite frankly a bit naff, why on earth do they persist with putting a channel 9 button on?
They really should look at what Yaesu and the like turn out, a good example is the Yaesu FT1802 which could be bought for just £109 here in the UK before Christmas, this radio just shows what can be acheived, and CB manufacturers would do well to replicate both the looks and features of this radio.

Check out the new "hans version" tti. That makes the Unidens and the Team seem deaf!!!!!!! Sure you need an s meter now, but it hears stuff that the President new series has more noise than signal.

Doug from Knights Electrocom doesn't even think the TS-6M will be available in the UK a dealer with his finger on the pulse there, I think not.
So are you saying that little tti is a better CB than this Team? I'm looking for the best compact CB out there

I have spoken to one of the owners of Team and SURE WILL BE SOLD IN THE UK and the importer will be SIGMA COMMUNICATIONS it seems as the general partner and then onwards to the dealers.
Team i guess is the better option as is "almost" Uniden quality and has an s meter where the tti does not have an s meter. BUT, if you need loads of naughty channels and also small then the Intek 100 is also a worthy option
** Seems the Team is so interesting, even President co-companies are buying them to look at **

Re: Team TS-6M
Thanks Simon,
I'll wait and see what the price is when on sale, I won't be ripped off, so will buy outside the UK if it proves cheaper.
Well worth having one for the money.
I've just dug an old Midland 78 plus out to listen on and it would seem it has developed a fault with the receive and I imagine trying to find someone to fix it won't be worth the effort, it wasn't very good to start with in my opinion.
I've looked a couple of times for Sigma communications, but none seem like the type of company to import and sell CB's.

I believe the cost will be around 80£ cheaper is import via www.neuner.de and then CB Funkgerate. My estimation although bad would be something like 59e for the radio and 17e for the shipping so around the 70£ delivered, that would be my guess
I've sent 6 pieces to the UK for friends and each time was around 76-81 euros depending on the location

That sounds about right Simon, ones on ebay work out at £68.70 including delivery, with no additional cost for an extra one.
I'll bare you in mind if they do prove to be marketed at £80.
Thanks

Having just compared my tti550 and Team TS-6M back to back for the first time (finding someone on the air around these parts is nigh on impossible) my friend described the Team audio as dreadful and even before I had actually spoken to anyone I had formed a preference for the tti.
So I just need some tissue in the mike case then?

Re: Team TS-6M
Are there any mods for this rig? can you just cut the little jumper wire then? anyone
Nearly forgot, I also don't think there is any way of turning off the annoying beep either, and having buttons on the mike that only allow one channel change per press is a pain too, especially with the annoying beep each time, and no scan is a glaring omision these days as well. They really should do better.

Mods, cut the wire and move the jumper, my mod at www.mods.dk and this allows a,b,c bands
BLEEEP: Turn on the radio with the DWN button pressed, maybe kills it, maybe not am not sure as mine is a prototype
Audio, sounds dreadful: Explain this, how does it sound? Remember you need speak at least 20cm from the mike as the electret is a real sharp one. Dreadful audio is not a complaint have heard about so far, so tell me more....

IF you need scan and things you need a President at almost double the cost. For the price it is, there are very many good things about the radio. It seems maybe you bought something that you do not really need, and against a tti well it leaves that in the dust as the tti is a poor radio unless hans has his mods inside of it, only the modification for the radio can save it.

With just a direct comparison between the Team and tti dreadful was the description my friend gave to the audio of the Team, he said it was muffled and sounded like I was on top of a mountain, with wind noise I asked and he said sort of.

I think you're wrong in saying scan should only be available on more expensive sets, tti manage to include scan on the little 550. Surely at the very least the radio should be capable of scrolling through the channels if you hold one of the buttons down.
With regards to what I need, I need a nice compact CB that works, one that doesn't beep at me, or at the very least have a way to turn it off, will scan and last but not least has good transmitted audio.
From by brief experience comparing these two radios side by side I also think your description of the 550 as poor is also wrong, out of the box with no mods the tti is better than the Team.
I bought the tti because it was cheap and also because you said it was a better radio than the team on receive, also the team wasn't available at that time, for it to turn out to be the better of the two has been disappointing to say the least.

Think you need to speak maybe a little further from the mike, muffled is the element and maybe being too close to it.
As for wind noise, can be breath maybe?
I tested it on mine, and can only get the muffled sound when am close to the mike case, bleep does not switch off on mine and believe it is not something that made it into the model, if it did then sure people would believe it was a Uniden creation

Re: Team TS-6M
My writing based on the tti is factual. I have tested 7 of them, all were poor. All had processor noises when tested on rhodes and schwarz equipment. Birdies at certain frequencies and harmonics. Then in a conversation with the local radio guru he told me about his modifications to the tti so i sent one to him and it came back a different beast indeed
a) better audio
b) external s meter socket
c) better receive
d) allignment was made correct, so some noises were gone.
Side by side with the Team, now they are on a par. Scan was never part of the TS6m, it replaces a model from 2001 and this never had a scan feature and this one is the same. The Team that i have is a prototype, pre-production and based on your words have sent the message onwards to the owners of Team for them to see. My advice, return it to Knights if it is as bad as you say. You have something that is TOTALLY different to what is on my desk at the moment. I tested the audio, and can only make the same noises when chewing the mike on audio, BUT also cannot change my mike as the sound comes via the speaker like talk back as was not completed model when i had it.
I have used many tti, 1100, 770, 880H, 880, 550 and they are almost the same, Maxon on the inside and all do what they say on the tin. For the BEST audio then you need Uniden there is nothing else on the scale that comes close. A cheap radio always will be that! Uniden has the best engineers, spends the most time developing and testing.
Team and tti are aimed at different market areas, 550 and TS6m are different as chalk and cheese.
To Phrase Poor so you understand me:
Case did not fit flush
ASC on 3 of mine sometimes failed to open or indeed close
NO S meter
not detachable power cable
Sure, Intek makes the 100+ which is a great radio, export features and works real well. Downside NO s meter, and AM audio better than FM
Intek M150 also a great radio, sold with tx issues as takes around 400-600ms for the tx circuit to open when press the mike
Emperor Kenji: Modelled on the Intek M100 with ASC, discontinued as was TOTAL AND UTTER SHIT. Sold via President on there "Emperor Line"
So my words mean, not everything is sadly perfect with radios, thats why my youtube has 440 videos, and not many of the radios there are still here.

I thought I'd see how the power output of each radio compares, whilst checking the power on the Team the needle on the power meter kept dropping to zero, wiggling the patch lead had the needle bouncing up and down, at first I thought I had a bad connection on the lead, however it turns out that the socket on the team doesn't allow the collar of the PL259 to screw all the way down and clamp the plug in place
Of course this problem doesn't exist on the poor quality tti everything fits and works perfectly on that radio. I so want to like this Team I've not been able to raise anyone on the air today for further audio checks.

Re: Team TS-6M
As said before RETURN IT TO KNIGHTS
Email the Owners of Team and tell them directly your issues: team-electronics@t-online.de
Overhere the radio is selling by the lorry load, its outselling all other radios at the moment. Return it to Knights and let them ship it to Team, they would like to see it, this am sure of.

Re: Team TS-6M
The CB has now been returned to Knights, perhaps the audio problem lies with the adjustments Knights makes to each and every CB they sell, hopefully I shall have an answer soon.
I've just thought... is there any reason why the audio on CB's as standard coming from the factory should be so low? the tti had very quiet transmitted audio and it has been my experience that every other CB radio I have bought has been the same apart from the Team that has been dealer adjusted. Perhaps there's a legal requirement they have to meet? It does seem odd especially given that all my Yaesu radios are spot on.

Interesting indeed as the radios are tested and tuned in Germany also. So indeed something there. The audios on CB are low as they are legally allowed to have something like between 1.4-1.6khz and this makes them sound quiet. Mine, the tti has now 2,1khz audio and is stronger but not legal of course. And Yaesu, sure they are for other bands, are other price range and are open for changing and not restricted to the legal requirement that a simple CB is.

Doug turned the deviation down and moved the mike element but I don't think the audio quality was much better. Regarding the aerial socket Doug did find a PL259 that fitted the thread on the Team, however that's not much use to me, he did suggest he changed the socket on the radio, but again I really don't want my brand new radio messed with in that way.
I've asked for my money back as the radio is clearly not fit for purpose, all in all a poor experience and a radio to avoid unless they correct the two faults.

Re: Team TS-6M
Interesting Indeed. I actually took the time and bought another radio from the UK and paid for UPS to bring it to me to see what was happening as here they are selling as fast as possible.
Audio was not great, resolved with some tissue inside the mike case as it took away the nasal sort of sound. Other than that works well, not any issues at all. Seems you have a one off there. What was the serial number for interest?
