Midland 48 Excel Multi
Hi all,
I'm considering a new Midland 48 Excel Multi to compliment the old radios I own, and was wondering if it's considered a good buy and if there's any secret "Tips and Tricks" with the unit?
I like the old-fashoned S-meter, but if there's a better buy for the money, please let me know (they are about £115 new here).
I may install it mobile or homebase.
Many thanks.

Re: Midland 48 Excel Multi
Hi There,
Many swear by them, some swear at them. Made by Maxon in Thailand and works well i suppose, although not really "my thing" as it were. Secrets, yes move the jumpers and makes band rU 25615-30105 and also PX 25610-30110
Would I get one? Probably not for me:
Others on the market include:
Intek M795 Power, around the same price, makes the same export bands and also 17w, does not really make 20w sadly.
Other than that, they are mostly the same old stuff inside different skins.

Re: Midland 48 Excel Multi
Many thanks for the opinion.
I see the Intek comes in two versions (EU and High-Power International) - is it worth trying to obtain the International version or is it just a jumper-change job to convert the EU version?
Cheers.

Re: Midland 48 Excel Multi
Top of Board: Open OPT12
Top of Board: Open OPT 8+4, Close OPT9+7 this makes 11w
Top Board: Open OPT10 this makes the 16-17w possible
All work except OPT12 are placed on the top right of the board at the back corner, above the output trannies
Regards
Simon
ps) Am to Poland now, back here and online Tuesday evening
