Check your patch leads.

Check your patch leads.
At last years Windmills on the air weekend we lost a lot of time due to problems on the first day.
These problems turned out to be caused by dodgy soldering on TWO of the patch leads.
We check continuity on the coax when setting up a portable station or before we put our station coax up for the first time. But how many regularly check their patch leads for continuity, as part of their regular & required EMC checks ? Yet this simple check takes seconds & our patch leads get far more pulling around than our main coax.
For anyone who does not know how to do it.

- Set your multi meter to resistance.
- Put a probe on the male part of the PL-259 at each end.
- Look at your multi meter it should be reading zero resistance.
- Check done. Patch lead is good.
