Hello from Germany Empty Hello from Germany

So where do I start.

Been out of the game for nearly 15 yrs. Used to TX from the East Coast of Scotland under the call 108TS17 on 27.555.

Had to bin it all when I joined the Forces (Royal Signals) back in 1996
as it was impracticable to haul the shack around every three yrs.
However I have used an awesome amount of comms kit, not only ours but
our NATO allies to, and freqs that will make you infertile in nano
seconds. Oh and a chicken wire fence in Bosnia used as an antenna to
"communicate" into the Falklands Islands. (I kid you not)

But now I have stopped moving around and plan to settle down over here in Germany and get back into the business. Are there any DX'ers out there in Germany willing to offer any advice on the law etc, though I suspect, If caught, its a hefty fine.

What are the current trend in kit now a days. All I had was a 148
GTL DX and a Modded Superstar 360 into twin Antron 99's, oh and about
100 W. Did the trick back then!!

Hope to chat on air when funds have been raised and Antenna set up, meanwhile its the HF Receiver for me.

73's the Noo.

The same introduction on another forum but same applies.

Welcome to the forum. The expert on law over in Germany is going to be Simon007. I am sure he can give you some advise and help.

How much are you looking at spending? The 11m radios of today would be Ranger 2950dx (£189.00) or Galaxy DX93 or 95-T2 and the General Grant (£295.00). As for the antenna I would go for an Antron 99 again.

Hope to hear you on the air very soon.

Dave

Hello Timmy,

Welcome to the forum and I'm certain that Simon 007 can get you sorted out, wether it be with advise or helping you purchase new or used equipment.

On a personal note ...One thing I would like to suggest to you Timmy , why not "tone down" that logo you have showing ?
Its not neccessary, also there are young radio ops who view this form.

Good luck for your future dxing.... I hope meet you via the radio in the very near future.

Sorry all if Avator caused offence.

Changed as seen.

Funds are a bit low at the mo, so its a fullwave dipole (10m 11m) building and erecting day on the weekend for the HF RX'er.

CB is legal here in 80 channels, this also allows for packet radio, connecting the radio to the internet, CTSS and many other data options.

26565-26955 channels 41-80

The are the bands that are legal, once called Low band in the day. You can use 4 watts and connect to a PC or whatever. Here, FM is legal with 4 watts.

26965-27405 channels 1-40

Called the CEPT channels, or indeed the mids in the old days. AM is allowed with 1w and FM/USB/LSB with 4 watts.

http://www.bayern-funk.com/news.php

This website shows you some of the connections that are online if you go that way.

Maybe it is clearer now?

Depends on what you require really, CB or HF, SSB or otherwise. There is always something around here and there, just depends on what exactly you are looking for.
