Using MT 5050 Export in Germany Empty Using MT 5050 Export in Germany

Anything to watch out for when using the above in 4W and scrambler mode whilst in Mecklenburg Vorpommern in holiday in a couple of weeks time (Ostsee kueste and Ruegen/Hiddensee). Is it best to use PMR channel 9 and 10 etc rather than the standard 8 channels or is it going to be a rerun of one of those WW2 spy movies with DF vans scouring the countryside looking for "Der Englaender".

Thanks in advance

Hi Jon,

Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it some use and easy to use. We have a few members on the forum from Germany inc Simon007 so I am sure they will be able to help.

Enjoy your holiday,

Thanks Dave,

I was hoping Simon might have a suggestion or two about PMR use whilst there.

I see you've got an 857 plus the ATAS - I'm going to be installing mine in the vehicle I'm using for the trip, shortly. However, I'm trying to avoid the Soviet fishing trawler look for this holiday. I only want to listen to the BBC World Service - honestly Officer.

Hi There, PMR use hmmmm. Yes there is not any real worry with the use of channel 9-10 but i would advise you to not be there as know someone who had some troubles. There is an active tracking place on Ruegen as found there last year so better air on the side of caution. Scrambler or CTSS on a normal channel would be wiser of course, but think there will be no real real troubles. YES, there are vans on the island, but more interested in people who pirate the marine band.

Maybe will work you, June 4th-9th will be in Poland, islands of Wolin, Karsibor, Uznam and Usedom and will have vhf/uhf and cb with me, maybe drop me a PM when you will be there.

There are many gateways there, www.freeadionetworks.eu and around Stralsund there was a lot of activity, I was there last year, stayed on Ruegen, PMR was busy near beaches and quiet elsewhere.

KAP ARCONA is the place to try the radio, from there it is excellent to work into Denmark, Sweden on UHF

Regards
Simon
