There is a new & rather expensive toy here in the shack, as I have just spend a reasonable chunk of cash on a new MFJ 933 loop tuner. First impressions are fair.
It seems to tune up on 20 meters OK with 13 feet of wire thrown around the bed, but as yet no replies to CQ calls using the 817.
The 4 foot of wire claimed to be required on 10 meters does not seem to give a good result, (SWR is 2:1) but as I am upstairs maybe the ground effect is needed to get that working.
At almost £200 it's not the cheapest toy in the shack, but as it gives me easy portability as I can just loop a short wire anywhere. If it works as claimed, it should be good fun to play with.
