Support you're local Repeater Group...
Hi Everyone,
The last few weeks the UKFM Repeater Group Yahoo pages has been very active as a discussion takes place about the groups finances as they plummet due to the high rises in site rental. There were some interesting points raised to make the group bigger and better like the fact that there is no payment method on the website and that the UKFM website is somewhat out of date compared to other groups... Now this is a website to look at and I am sure you will think it’s a well designed site - South Yorkshire Repeater Group
The group have a AGM looming which will take place this week and it’s looking like the membership will rise from £4.00 a year to £12.50 and the group hope that people will support it by donating more.
This rise might seem a steep one but may I remind you we have 19 or so local repeaters that the group support and the fact that we no longer have to pay Ofcom for our licence as it’s now free...
The Bristol Repeater Group is under threat and will have to take the repeaters off the air within the next 6 months as it’s struggling to find someone to be the NoV Licence holder for the repeaters and a technician for when things go wrong...
With this in mind I hope you will ALL support you’re LOCAL repeater group however little you use the repeaters.

Do you all have to pay for D-Star?
They tried that one here & nearly started a riot. There are only half a dozen people with D-Star yet despite being able to spend silly sums on the radio they wanted everyone else to pay or thier repeater.

Hi Alan,
hmm interesting that, paying for the use of a D-Star repeater... The UKFM group sort of only have one D-Star repeater and that's GB7WC. I say sort off as it was a joint thing between them and Warrington ARC where the Chairman Dave Wilson is involved...
We are still waiting for more D-Star repeaters and hope they are better located...

Re: Support you're local Repeater Group...
We now have three repeater groups in Norwich.
UHF. D-Star & VHF.
The UHF & VHF seperatrion is a hostoric thing. The UHF repeater users being few & very seperate from the VHF operators.
The D-Star seperation came about after it became apparent that they would never get the support for the D-Star & the increase in exspenditure required from non the D-Star users at the AGM.
The attitude was why should most of us fund Icom & those happy to spend over £500 on a black box.
