Well done Dave G4AKC (AKA Bicycle Mobile)
Well done Dave G4AKC (AKA Bicycle Mobile)
Despite the sunspot minimum, Blackpool amateur Dave Starkie, G4AKC, has managed two way pedestrian mobile contact with G7LPW/ZL3 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
On 15 November they completed the 21,100km contact on 20 metres SSB.
This was the result of two years work to improve and develop a high performance HF backpack which was used at both ends of the contact.<hr id=false>
I would like to congratulate Dave (Bicycle Mobile) with the contact made. I was speaking to him a few days before on 2m GB3MP and he was telling me all about the contact he was trying to make. I am glad you managed it..

Moped Mobile
Hello Dave / All
Many years ago there was a guy who lived on the outskirts of Belfast and he used to go "Moped Mobile" =))
I was amazed that he made any contacts at all because of the qrn caused by the moped's engine etc, but he did make contacts on his moped and some decent ones at that.
When he used to ask me for a radio report I never had the nerve to tell him the qrn was terrible lolllllll
But he had fun with his moped mobile station...and that's the main thing I guess.
