How did you get into ham radio ?

Every other forum has it so why not this one How did you get involved in amateur radio ?

For my part I started listening for the place names on those old transistor / valve radio dials. And then whilst at Tec Collage doing a day release course on the building trade, we were shown what a trade in electrics could give you as a hobby.
I was told what I was doing had a name, MW DX'ing & I got to speak to a naval vessel. That was it I was hooked on radio.
I took the RAE course in about 1980, but then missed the exam & was told I would have to go through a whole year's course again to re sit the exam:evil: A LIE. But I knew no different, so I went back to Echo Charlie & then got involved in SW broadcasting.

I got into Ham radio after being on the CB for 10 years. I then started DX'ing this year and loved it. When a friend told me he was taking the M3 I thought it's time I should move on to pastures new and all that...

So here I am.
