yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
this has just happened in the last day..i send my tone burst for the 70cms repeater but cannot hear it open on the radio. checked the scanner and it had opened. The problem is that i cannot receive any signal back but can still transmit..this does not occur on any other frequencies. Can any one help..

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
Have you checked that it is listening on the correct frequency? I think we have all made that mistake at some point.
Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
i have checked the shift and the repeater shift and it stays the same. if some one else uses the repeater i can hear them, if i try to transmit, the tone is received by the repeater, but i cannot hear it unless i use my scanner..

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
Could it be something like a sticky PT? So the radio is not returning to RX as quick as it should?
Another thought is has it inadvertently been set for crossband operation.
Second edit for an add. A full reset, which will loose all the programmed frequencies etc, is often a good place to start when something like this happens.

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
I have done a full factory reset and it is still the same, the ptt button is working fine on all other frequencies..as for cross band operation i will have to check that one out...many thanks...

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
I am a member of the Yahoo group & have been through various searches, but can find nothing. I'll post on there, but it's well worth joining for situations like this.
Edited to add.....I have posted the question for you...But it is a group worth joining.

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
It has been suggested you check CTCSS & DCS settings. I can't remember the settings, but look & see if the RX settings are set. They should be off on RX.
Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
I have tried and checked settings and they are correct. the RX is set to auto mode and i have tried every other setting possible and can now receive the repeater using only WFM where as before it would receive on auto..really weird.
but many thanks for your help and i will still try and sort it back to the way i had it..factory settings don`t seem to help..i will let you know the outcome..73s

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
Some has said check the DL / DPL settings...Looking else where it seems the VX-7r has some problems with these settings.
Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
Another suggestion on the yahoo group & one I thought I had posted here, but have not. Have you checked that CTCSS is on TX only?
Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
Just a thought but is it a uk model or the states ? .

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
i believe it is a UK version..not sure though..as i said every thing has worked OK until a few days ago....i noticed that if i put the dual band up and send on the main band for the repeater it comes back on the sub band..work that one out...
i have tried full factory reset and things just stay the same...

Re: yaesu vx-7r..repeater problem..
no problem..looking through other forums on other sites it could be a problem on the reset..instead of resetting to the UK version it is resetting to either USA or european.....it is something to do with the menu...but never mind i will let you all know if i get it sorted for future ref:...73s
