It's a
I have got my 10 meter radio Multim10
It's been converted to 10 meters & it cost me £40, so although not exactly what I wanted I'm happy, plus I have my eye on another & better 10 meter, so maybe it will be my back up radio. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
Now what I need is a decent mobile antenna & a frequency meter to use with it & I'm off.

I'll let you know what it's like when it arrives. It apprently has "The normal mod on the NB switch" what ever that means.

Thanks Simon, I assumed that was what he meant about the mod, it will be interesting to have that option available on something mobile as the 817, 857 & Icom etc are not used other than at QTHR & /P.
Also thank you for antenna advice, I'll take a look at them later today.
My current plans are that as I never use 2 meters FM now, I may start running SSB mobile with a 2 meter halo mounted on my triple mag mount, but also use 10, (etc if I now have that option,) 4 & 6. And as I never leave any radios in the car, operating like that is not going to be a problem.

Depends very much on which version to whether its any good or not Tim. And will not go up the bands as high as Daxi needs, as it ends at 28305. But it is true, when they work well they do work well and when they are bad, they are terrible

the Belcom has arrived,I put it on the dummy load & checked both frequency against read out & power through my SWR meter.
Power is a good 10 watts on high power, so it's not been messed with, frequency was 1 KHz difference between my non calibrated frequency meter & the radios readout all the way from 26 - 29.9 MHz, so that was also spot on & it even came with the mobile bracket Very Happy Very Happy
So now it's get the mobile whip sorted & I'm 10 meters mobile.
The Ham Int is good too I checked that a few days ago & it's a steady 10 watts, but it's channel readout is weird, it reads up to 80 channels, but each block has only 40 channels with the readout starting at 0 or 20 or 40. So I guess I am going to need to sort out a frequency counter to use it.

The Siro 4000 worries me.
Truck King claim an alleged 2.5 MHz band width which sounds like it's a
dummy load & as I really need something high Q as that helps to cut the background
noise, especially that produced within the radio, the 4000 sounds like it's not what I am looking for with that band coverage.
The 4000 also has a claimed 26 - 28 MHz band coverage.

Hi Alan,

I have to agree with Porky :-). I too have a Sirio 4000 and I wont through mine away... I think it's a superb antenna for 27mhz and have used it with no problems on 10 meters too.

Well worth the money in my opinion.

But will it do the job on 10 meters as well as a High Q 10 meter antenna? Looking at it, I don't personally think so. It has too wide a bandwidth & the claimed band coverage is 1.5 MHz outside of the 10 meter repeater/ FM section of the band.
I think I may go for an Am Pro antenna. I have worked the world on 20 meters using one of these & between 1 & 5 watts. And I know that on several occasions I have heard stations with a good 3 -4 readability that a station between one quarter to half a mile away & using a G5RV could not.
