HY-GAIN V 2795

Hello guys, bought a hy-gain v off ebay the other day(sad i know ) The front of the radio is not in bad condition but the casing needs a respray it sounds great on am/fm but ssb is very scratchy.Looks like i need to speak to cobraworxshopz see if they can sort it out for me

Send it to Nick (Black Spirit) in South Wales - he'll sort it out (replaced the finals and tuned my Stalker 9 FDX - it's bang-on frequency and BBC quality R5 reports back almost every time).

Thanks for that gary i may well take you up on that if i cant find anyone local to do it.In the mean time i was trawling around cobraworkxshopz to find a mint hy-gain v 2795 dx so i decided to buy that as it is like new and they have performed some nice mods on the radio but it wasn't cheap told the wife 100 quid but it was more like 184 quid delivered I will still get the other hy-gain sorted and spray the case then resell on eBay if i can list it as they are taking muti modes off at the mo

Cheers porky,i will let you all know how it performs when i take delivery for it which i expect around the end of next week as they wanted a cheque instead of paypal which is annoying. I will post some pictures of the radio on here also.

Whats the mods and what did they do, tell us something or am going to internally implode

Hello simon, i will get a list of the mods carried out by them because i have lost the infomation that i had . The radio was delivered but i wasn't in and they didn't ring the number that was pinned to the door so it is sat at the post office waiting for collection which looks like it will have to be tomorrow now due to work commitments....... AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sorry for the delay peoples. Ihave contacted cobraworxshopz today and waiting for an email with regard to the mods done and all being well should be putting a few pictures and listing the mods over the next few days.

Sorry for my delay,

When we spoke on friday I was unaware that Jamie (one of our Tech's) was away
until today. I have asked him this morning what mods were done and this is his
list;

HY-GAIN V (2795DX)

1)RF Output stage mod = makes the RF output devices run cooler by 25%.
2)IF stage mod = Increased receiver front-end gain and selectivity (min 6db).
3)Full Back2Spec tuning = Factory alignment of entire transceiver.
4)Noise Blanker mod = Noise blanker hard-wired with uprated components.
5)Hy-gain V bleep mod = Makes bleep LOUDER and L O N G E R.
6)Bleep switch = Roger bleep switchable on NB control.
7)Uniden mod = Mic socket re-wired for UNIDEN mics.
8)FM Audio mod = Multi-component mod making FM TX audio 100% better than
standard.
9)VCO expansion mod = VCO components upgraded for broader more-linear response.
10)Squelch mod = Makes the squelch cut-off more defined.

I must say the radio works very well and i'm very pleased with it and the guys a cobraworxshopz certainly know what they are doing

I have emailed him as we speak. I knew about something from the start of the year but nothing for a while, and whatever those guys touch it sure works well

No not putting it on eBay it's just where i saved my photographs to
