Stalker or Major
Hi,
I've a Stalker ST-9F DX and a Major 360 which both need attention - I don't really need both rigs and was wondering which one to get repaired and serviced?
I know it's usually a matter of opinion, but it'll be nice to hear some.
Also is it possible to add say a 5Kc shift to the Stalker so I can tune-in 27.520, 27.570 etc. etc. - I love the older rigs, but that's the problem I find with the channel type selectors.
Cheers.

Re: Stalker or Major
Yes, have heard of kc shifts on both radios
Stalker or Major?
Very similar, but would chose the Stalker.

Re: Stalker or Major
Copied 21 Division on my other Stalker 9 today - it's getting good reports with my old Astatic Teardrop (nice to mix-it with the Yaesu boys with a Chicken Box )

Re: Stalker or Major
I dont' know the Major, but the Stalker. Nice radio! Hard to find here in germany. I'd prefer the Stalker, because it is known for quality and good performance!

Re: Stalker or Major
Yes it's turning out to be a good radio - my Stalker 9 was hitting Berlin on S9 R5 on Sunday using FM on the EU block, also copied Osnabruk and two more 21 Division stations on SSB over the last few days too.
I will certainly be getting the Stalker ST-9F DX sorted soon.

Re: Stalker or Major
Indeed, sunday was a great day. Unfortunataly the propagation to UK was very low from my region. Only heard two or three stations from UK. Only Italy, France, Spain and many eastern countries in the evening. Hope that i'll catch some UK stations next time...
Here is a short video from last sunday:

Re: Stalker or Major
Nice video - nice to see channels instead of a frequency counter! Listen for 26-TM-2307 next time you hear the propagation coming in.

Re: Stalker or Major
I love the old SSB rigs. The reciever is a dream and the radio very stable on frequency. This Adams is modified by Mr. Maurer from Austria. One of my favourite radios. It has a DDS unit inside for the channel expansion and a FM unit. A frequency counter plug is the next step. Mr. Maurer has a matching counter for this radio in his program. Hope to catch you soon!

Re: Stalker or Major
I have enjoyed my old Stalker over the last week or so - my Superstar 3900 and frequency counter have been stored away and I've not missed them!
Hoping to put the Stalker to good use this weekend too.

Re: Stalker or Major
Here's the old-timer - tuned into the Triple 5
It's got a lazy S-meter, but apart from that, it's fine.
