Setting up a Shack Empty Setting up a Shack

Post by 2W0PWR Fri May 09, 2008 7:47 pm

This weekend I hope to setup a Shack under the stairs in the little cupboard. I am planning to stick a wire up around the house and have the Icom 706Mk2G with the LDG AT-200 Pro and my new solder station.
The small shack has a light and a window so it should be quite good. I will however have to use my big battery as a power supply for the moment as the 7amp thing will be running close to max...

I will send some photos if I manage to find the time to get it finished...

Setting up a Shack Empty Re: Setting up a Shack

Post by 2W0PWR Sat May 10, 2008 9:09 am

I have setup the antenna and made a small bench for under the stairs with my 817ND, LDG AT-200 Pro ATU, Power Supply and Soldering station all on it.

I will post a picture later on tomorrow. I think the Icom IC-706Mk2G will be going in the shack and the 817 in the car. Will see if I get any complaints of TVI tomorrow when running 10w.

I am going to have a look at buying a homebase 2/70 antenna and a bigger power supply next week... Money Money Money....

Cheers Tony.

I have put a picture of the small thing on my homepage of the site. I will take some of the antenna and some more pictures of the Icom when I put it in.

Looking forward to working some stations from it.

Nice clock, thought ebay was cheap?

I can't comment much on the way the G5RV is up at the moment. I have only made two contacts on it.

The ATU kit has come and its got lots of tiny resistors and things in it. Don't think I am going to touch it until I get back from Spain...

Thanks Tony.

Just sneeked in off the beach to the Internet Cafe. No radio sadly and wish I had brought one but the other half would kill me and being an M3 does not allow me to transmit outside the UK... Even though my signal goes outside the UK!!! Work that one out!!!

Anyhow having a great time and lots of photos so I will put some on my site when I get home...
