Chinese Cheap Walky Talkys Empty Chinese Cheap Walky Talkys

Post by g6ohm Sat Feb 09, 2008 12:12 am

Hi all i need some help.
I am thinking of buying a handheld or handhelds.
I keep seeing on ebay the chinese walky talkys like Jingtong,Weierwei,FDC,Wouxan etc etc.
Is there a site where i can compare specs of these radios.?
Do any of you use these radios and what are they like, do they have CTCSS repeater shift, DCS.
Where did you get yours from ?
Did you have to pay duty on them ?

I look forward in your replys.

I can't speak for the others, but I have a Puxing & it's a great little radio. Last summer on a trip to the coast I took my Yaesu VX-7R & my (£30) high gain 38cm antenna to see if I could access the Norwich repeaters from up the church tower. I did & with a fully silencing signal which made me happy. A friend then called in to say he could hear me on the input & asked if I could change back to the standard antenna for a comparison.
Rather than mess about I used the Puxing, £20 + p & p & the input signal was the same.
These really are very good radios. well built, robust, simple to use. I like them so much I got one & programmed it for the main simplex S channels plus the local repeater, locked it & gave it to my 9 year daughter to use as her own radio.
The only real problem I have found with the Puxings is a IF signal on the marine emergency channel. Which is a pain as I use mine as a scanner & live near the coast so I want marine band...But hey at £20 if thats the only problem I'm not complaining.
