Off air and internet shack refit
I am off air to re-design the shack, new toys arrived by courier today and have bought another desk from B&Q ( hate putting flat packs together , scurge of the Univers )
The 60 amp PSU is a big bugger lmao and the KL500 was a bit bigger than expected size wise, you know us blokes always measuring inches and milimeters wrong pmsfl
So I am QRT for a couple of days to sort out the bits and bobs, will probably take me a week to assemble the desk
Will be back on air as soon as possible and will post some new up to date shack pics.
Its only on the band anyways right now so best time to sort it out.

Re: Off air and internet shack refit
Ahaaaaaaaaaaaa , I managed to buy pass the Yaseu con by getting hold of some Motorola 25 Amp fuses that are exactly the same shape as the Yaseu ones and about a 3rd of the price.
Why is Yaseu own brand stuff so bloody expensive, I also hate the idea of being held to ransom to buy parts from one manufaturer. I think there should eb free choice to chose , not be made to buy Yaseu parts.
Somebody tipped me off on the other fuses and I only had to walk around the dorner to buy some Motorola fuses from the local car part shop.
Switch on and rig is Aok.

Re: Off air and internet shack refit
I now need to make another 3 patch leads, set everything up and test on air.
I am just hideously busy with work over the next couple opf days and will have to fit around that.
The Ranger VR900 has been sent to a rig Doc to have the small faults ironed out and a tune up so it will drive the other home brew linear nicely.
I intend to use the Ranger VR900 on CEPT FM and should be pushing out about 200 watts muhahahaha
The Yaseu is arkward to set up for FM with change of bandwith ect, so leaving the FT857D just for SSB use.
Catch you on air soon the ones I can hear from my neck of the woods.
Will be listening out for Simon007 for another nice QSO as well.
Was 5/7 with you last time so will be interesting to see how signal improves if it does improve.
Catch you all soon fellas, mad busy. later

Re: Off air and internet shack refit
Buggeration problems with the power cable to rig and a couple of incorrect cables sent out so will have to wait for correct cables and other bits to arrive.
And most ghastly of all, I chekly odered a couple of patch leads being too lazy to make my own and they sent those 'orrible moulded patch lead things
