Just how low can we get?
Just how low can we get?
Has anyone else been following the VLF stories on Southgate? First I saw a story a few days ago that said that OFCOM are now issuing Nov's for operation below 9KHZ, which I thought looked fun. Then a story that Stefan DK7FC achieved an Amateur Radio world
record on 8.97 kHz of 830km using 1.7 milliwatts ERP ( 250 watts at the TX.)
Then there was this....The Russian Federation operates a transmitter on the Extremely Low
Frequency (ELF) of 82 Hz.

Looking around at the Southgate links the best amateur radio VLF site link is
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lapthorn/earthmode.htm
Amateur Radio below 10KHz, Communicating through the ground.
It seems they use Audio Amplifiers connected to two ground spikes.
