HI DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN PICK UP MILETERY TRANSMITIONS IN THE RHONDDA VALLEY ,SOUTH WALES. ON SCANNER ,OR HF . I HAVE TRIED TO SEARCH THE FREQUENCIES. BUT I CANNOT PICK ANY THING MUTCH UP. OR ARE THEY ON AT SERTAIN TIMES .I MOSTLRY TRY AT NIGHT. MILETERY  SCANNING Sleep MILETERY  SCANNING Icon_biggrin

First thing to note is that VHF/UHF is limited by topography & for a lot of Wales that means signals are very limited.
Next have a look on Scanproma UK.

But yes you should be able to hear any radio traffic providing you are within range & on the correct frequency & providing there is some traffic at the time that you listen.

If your trying to pick up Military on HF it will be nearly impossible unless of course they are txing in clear. There is gonna be radio checks and the odd C2 demand. Boring.

Trust me sets are "filled" then there is no chance as the algorythemns (sp) are unbreakable. If the set is on a freq like 2.345 you will not even know its txing on that freq even if you land on it!!

Trust me, I know.

I teach it!!!!!
