Validation of 2006 callsigns.
Southgate ARC's news site carried the following...
They words are "at least once every five years. " I have validated both my Foundation & my Intermediate, so I now have close to 5 years on my full, Foundation, Intermediate & the club callsign.
For those not sure what to do it's simply a matter of logging in, going to the relevant callsign & clicking on "Validate" & then either updating the infomation or clicking to confirm no changes are needed & thats it, another 5 years are available.
Ofcom has decided this time round to automatically extend the validation period of licences issued from November 2006 to August 2007 for a further year - giving 6 years from the issue date.
This
will apply only to this category of licensees who have not changed or
validated their licensing details since the issue date. After this,
licence holders will need to update their licences themselves. Amateurs
are encouraged to use the on-line licensing system - see below.
Ofcom
has taken this decision to avoid having a large number of validations
to process around the time of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games
in 2012.
Information applicable to all Amateur licensees and applicants:
In
2006, Ofcom introduced a new, improved online licensing system which
facilitates amateur radio licensees validating their licence details as
necessary, at least once every five years.
To register, apply, update or validate your licence on-line go to www.ofcom.org.uk/licensing/olc/

Thanks Alan for posting this, I was just reading it the y-day or Friday on the RSGB site. Mine is ok for 5 years as I have just moved house so I changed the info and obv clicked validate...
It's amazing how many people forget to do this! The only thing I dislike with the Ofcom website is the Password settings. The password has to have a capital letter and who has such a password?
