The Daily Mail reports that the brother of former England cricket captain Mike Atherton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Peter Rushton G7PMZ died and Ian Firby G7VCG was injured in the collision on the M61 motorway near Bolton last Sunday.

The Daily Mail report says:
Relatives of Mr Rushton, a retired nurse from Greater Manchester, are devastated by his death.

His cousin Christopher Howarth said: 'Peter lived in New Moston, where he was a popular figure in the community.
He was a retired registered nurse, who had specialised in community psychiatric nursing.'

He went on: 'He was an amateur radio enthusiast and enjoyed travelling the world and visited America, China and Egypt but since his retirement he had enjoyed spending time in Llandudno'.

'Peter was also a lay preacher at his local Methodist church.'

This is sad news and my thoughts are with Peter's Family at this awful time. Peter was the Treasure at the Oldham ARC where he had been a member for almost 20 years.
