Read it here from the Wizard first. The item is DELAYED till the earliest end of January 2008, February 2008. There are some rumours why the first "air delivered" ones will not be here before Christmas but for this am not commenting, so WAIT WAIT WAIT Guys

Re: President Jackson II
400 channels when modded and 20w output as the maximum it seems as more information comes around. 25615-30105 seems to be the bandwidth, on the negative side its a step back in time to have just the channels and not any freq display. Am also curious to find out where the A channels are sat and on which button

Maybe have, maybe not The radio actually will make
25610-30110
25615-30105
Is very stable and is sharing many features from the old Jackson, just the difference is new rOHs materials and a new chip that controls the Multi-Eu and the like. The mod is an easy one, and then just adjust the various to make the channels and the frequencies. Can be either legal config or illegal, it is not mix and match sadly

Re: President Jackson II
I will not comment to the last words, make it up as I go along. Well, seems you have little faith.
I do not work for President, Stabo and none of there other companies but have seen the radio.
Same as have seen the next radio from korea with the detachable front and RS232 connection. Will be in the UK sometimes 2008-2009 but with the business that am in I see many radios, and am lucky to test them long time in advance.
Example, saw the President Johnson II and Emperor Kenji almost 23 months before they were released, and was with President in France. Nice group of technical guys there, and also spent time with the owner and the inventor of the ASC, who is sure a gemius and that there is no mistakes

Re: President Jackson II
Well, it works Weird and non sensical way of making the channels and a nice new board, all shiny and also a nice new chip and with the software revision on there. Easy way to mod it, and also an easy way to take away the multi EU settings and leave it as a monoband
What is interesting, there is an awful lot of programming resistors near the chip so guess there is some other odds and sods left un attended there and wait now the better documentation to come so all is clear. Mine is a young one, under 70 in the serial numbers so let us see what happens now.
BEST ADVICE: Set the dim to low before modding as this becomes the 10kc A channel button after the modification. For some AWESOME piccies look at: https://www.pmr-funkgeraete.de/artikel/artikel-2975-kategorie-185-seite-1882.htm?
Its with his help we beat the time bandits and got a Jacko from the nice Netherlands

And for those interested, there is a self programming way to do the Jacko without opening the lid, power and channels all available from the front and i repeat NOT ANY SINGLE SCREW TO UNDO, OR things to touch internally. Hmmmmm, BUT TRUE

Re: President Jackson II
Sure, no troubles. NO SOLDERING NEEDED!!!!
But you loose the legal channels when the mod is done.
Take off the bottom case and there is a white wire on the board behind the channel selector, CUT IT.
Above it, there is a jumper, move it from MULTI to EXPORT, thus one across.
OR
SEND ME A PM with your email and I send you the modification with PDF File
How is that?

Treated myself to a Jackson 2 last week done the mod when i got it home . I found by accident if you set the dim / bright switch to dim and then turn it on you get dim display and vice versa and then switch becomes 10kc shift when radio is turned on .

I am sure you are well aware what i meant !, i posted it to help others who have done the mod cause you quite clearly stated above that you are unable to use the bright and dim function when modded and this is clearly not true .

It tells it straight. DIM/BRIGHT does NOT work in export mode as becomes kc shift and not dim bright

If you read what i have written you will see that dim/ bright DOES WORK when modded and also works as a 10 kc .
Let me try it a simpler way ,
with radio off select dim and turn radio on display will be dim ,
with radio off select bright turn radio and the display will be bright.
once the radio is turned on dim / bright is 10 kc
So it DOESNT matter if you select dim or bright when you do the mod.

Obvious this is. WHEN RADIO IS ON, it does not work as dim/bright. So as you see you write what was here already.

Yes but your comment clearly states you can not change the brightness of the display once the radio is modded so is not quite as obvious as you are trying to make out, otherwise you wouldn't have said to set to dim before modding would you, if you had known this you wouldn't have stated that surely ?

Re: President Jackson II
Well, you must have something different to many people as indeed when the radio is modded the dim bright does not function as dim and bright, solely as a 10kc shift, as featured in the service manual from uniden.
SO, the feature that you have found, this is not featured in the manual for service. That was the point.

Re: President Jackson II
Well now I have got one of these, I am struggling to get the maximum out of it. The documentation in the package was next to useless I only found out by reading a review that Simon contributed to that you get the EU bands while set on UK by changing the band to AM.
Is there somewhere I can get a better set of docs?
Also the same review staes that you do not neccessarily lose the Legal UK stuff its just a fiddly way of selecting the channels.
Simon can you pm me the details of the non soldering mod and I may even get more out of this box of tricks
Thanks,
CC

Re: President Jackson II
Hi There CC
There are two ways to make the radio have more things shall we say.
a)move a jumper and cut a wire and this way you loose legals
b) there is another mod mad here by Hans Kucha where you need press a button to get export, and then when turn off the radio is legal one more time.
Documents, then you need www.servicedocs.com and then enter President and Jackson II. There are more things there, but sadly some of the extra goodies are more hidden.

What More hidden info are you looking for, you have the channels and the power mods already from the servicedocs.
swr caliration YES its not working well when the radio has been modded, and the standard sort of S5 of noise each time is a normal thing also in FM mode.

My meter isn't working most of the time (99% of the time),and it doesn't matter if the switch is on RF SWR or CAL.
I suposed that the SWR meter will be declaibrated but i hoped that i will at least have the RF meter.

Sounds like you have the trouble with the finals if not moving at alll, example being NO power so will not work?

I don't think this is the case..i get good TX feedback all the time and it never happened to not be able to transmit but the meter doesn't work usually ,in some rare cases it works and after a time it goes back to beeing dead or moving just a milimeter.

Maybe dry solder joint then in the meter? Also a known fault on some of the radios
