Post by 2E0ZMO Sun Mar 29, 2009 6:33 pm

i have been busy this weekend,i have started to build a tilt over mount for my 20ft pole.so far its cost me nothing.i have got two 2m lenths of 2.5" galv pipe,3 lenths of 2x1" box section, some M10 stud bar and the use of a welder. i lay the galv pipe either side of the mast and maked its position, then welded the box section across the two pipes at the bottom ,then half way up i welded another box section which will be the bottom stop(to stop the mast tilting too far) then the last box section at the top of the poles on the oppersite side to the middle one.(to stop it tilting the other way).today i will need to make 3 long bolts out of the stud bar, them drill 3 holes all the way through the 3 pipes, one at the bottom to lock the pole, one in the middle to act as a pivit and one at the top to lock again. the mount will be put in the ground upto the middle box section.to use it i will need to remove the top and bottom bolts which will allow the mast to be tilded towards me but it wont til backwards.i will post some pics soon.

All i will say is mind your fingers when you drop the mast over !
I have seen 1 or 2 amateurs fingers in between the base poles and mast.

i will andy,it may not work but for the cost of 3 bags of post fix i cant complain.hopefuly it will be up this weekend.got the bolts yesterday,i will be drilling later,(too early at the mo) then paint and then concrete in.i am thinking about putting my antron 99 on the top,a few G0's from my club have them and say they tune quite well on the ham bands.

The Antron 99 will work superb on 10m when conditions allow and will work ok on some of the bands. I like 17m when it's right as there is no contesting on that band Very Happy Razz
