when i bought my 706 it had been set up for psk31 with the cables and interface.i havnt tried this yet due to no HF aerials.found this on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQpBGh9RMEQ&feature=channel a very easy way to RX psk31 so i may give this a try with the 817.

3.5mm from the speaker socket of the radio to the mike in on PC and run some decoding software thats the quickest and easiest way to get on the air so to speak

i am listening now and it is so simple to rx.i am using the ft- 817 with the digipan software and the boom mic of my head set and it works great.
