Sadly the band was deleted but there are still some people there operating, the same goes for Switzerland that ended the service back in 2003.
Cybernet
Reftec
Uniden
And a few others made radios and indeed companies like Sandpiper were in the market with a few antennas

Re: 934mhz
People are the same here, 934mhz radios are more common now than before.
I have a reftec 934 and a house antenna for the summer
(so some people tell me, not commital and otherwise)

Re: 934mhz
junksale link
I have seen a few 934 Mhz sets for sale on various sites .I remember when they first started and the equipment so very expensive so very few bought it .I believe they were only 20 channel sets but with more than 10Khz spacing if I remember .Brilliant thing about them is the size of a multi element beam .I saw this posting recentely if anyone is interested in it ,it's not mine by the way ,just helping with a link .
Rather stick to HF here but we all have different preferences .I remember that amps were not available ( masthead I think was ) .
All the best

934mhz Radio
Hi All
Re: 934 mhz uhf radio band
I and a colleague used to broadcast on 934mhz frequencies from a location on the East Coast of England. (1980's ?) When the skip was right in the Summer months, we could pick up stations in Aberdeen, Yorkshire, London, Channel Islands and Holland.
Our main interest was to test 934mhz frequencies using Cybernet Delta One transceivers, loop yagi's, splitters, pre-amps and BBC Micro computers. At times the
computers were connected to the radios (packet radio). The Delta One radios were tweaked to 25 watts and split to 40 channels. We tested loop yagis from a 12/15 elements 4 aerial arrays on rotators to simple four element single aerials both horizontal/vertical polarisation. Some aerials were manufactured while others home cut copper upto 12 loop elements. I can say 934mhz was a superior broadcast band. All my test equipement used on this project is still stored in a basement.
Anyone interested in this band can contact me.

Re: 934mhz
Interesting, my background is in broadcasting. What kind of broadcasting did you do with packet & why use a beams?? Surely you limit your potential audience with a beam??
We did use a beam on one VHF band 2 station. Which was like you on the east coast. But that was to fire the signal across the water & make DF'ing harder. We set up with a tall & thus signal blocking area behind us to stop the rear scatter being used to find us. Thus if the DTI (now Ofcom,) wanted to track us down, it took two crews to cross reference us on a map & a third to come into the broadcast area & find us..But that was band two broadcasting. I would not imagine that the DTI would do anything about broadcasting on 934, anymore than they do about those who use 27 mhz to broadcast.

Re: 934mhz
may i suggest that people start setting up their 934 equipment as there are now people coming back on. Henry in Holland and 2 ex users wanting to get back on again. Henry has his 934 beam pointing towards the UK.Other stations are in the UK but so far no one has made any contact. More people need to come back to 934.
