My first post - so please be gentle!

IS there a mod for the Yaesu VX-7R for DSTAR? Not sure I want the expense of an ICOM IC-80D or the waterproof (why exactly?) Icom IC-I92D.

So, what's the general feeling about a possible mod, or the best way to get a Dstar handie?

D-Star is a Icom system. Thats why so few bother with it. If you do not buy the over priced Icom black box, you can't play, so most don't & often because Icoms conduct in stopping it being open source is contrary to the spirit of amateur radio.
